Experiencing the community. Farewell to Primate Wyszynski in the lens of Jan Maria Jackowski
Author: Jan Maria Jackowski
The album Experiencing a Community contains previously unpublished photographs from the funeral of the Primate of the Millennium in May 1981. The reporter's photos taken by Jan Maria Jackowski - a current senator and at the time a reporter for "Tygodnik Solidarność" - provide extraordinary historical material, bringing the backstage of an extraordinary event in the realities of the People's Republic of Poland, which was the last farewell of the Primate of the Millennium.
The album includes an essay by Peter Dmitrowicz, director of Mt. 5:14, recalling the difficult days of May 1981 - about the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II and the Primate's deteriorating condition - as well as a text by Jan Maria Jackowski, in which he shares his memories of Cardinal Wyszyński and the behind-the-scenes work as a reporter in the editorial office of "Tygodnik Solidarność."
