Saint John Paul II on postage stamps of the world (1978-2005)
Author: x. Waldemar Chrostowski
Rev. Prof. Waldemar Chrostowski is a well-known biblical scholar and... philatelist. Initially he was interested in the Old Testament immortalized on postage stamps, only after the election of Karol Wojtyla as Pope did he start collecting only those on which the Polish Pope was featured.
Throughout the years, his collection has grown to an impressive 440 issues, which includes more than 1,500 stamps, among others. Part of the collection can be seen at the main exhibition Mt 5,14 | Museum of John Paul II and Primate Wyszyński, in the area dedicated to the papal pontificate.
The reproductions in the album are arranged chronologically - from the beginning of the Pope's pontificate until his death in 2005. The Pope made 104 pilgrimages, visited more than 100 countries, and most of these events were immortalized in the form of postage stamps.
