Willmann in Warsaw
Author: collective
Catalog of the temporary exhibitions Willmann encore. Martyrdoms of the Apostles from the Matthew 5:14 Division and Willmann. Opus minor from the Museum of the Archdiocese of Warsaw completes the exhibitions of works by Michael Willmann (the author called the "Silesian Rembrandt"), which took place in Warsaw in 2021. The publication includes not only photographs of the paintings featured in the exhibition, but also those in the collections of the National Museum in Wroclaw and the National Museum in Warsaw, among others. It also includes photographs of drawings and prints, which are as highly regarded as the Silesian artist's paintings. Willmann in Warsaw is also made up of texts by various specialists, including Bishop Michal Janocha and Dr. Ewa Korpysz. The articles present both the history of the artist himself and of the Cistercian Abbey in Lubiąż, where the artist lived, but also provide a rich analysis of Willmann's works from the perspective of art history.
