Pro Memoria, vol. X (1963)
Author: Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski
The year 1963 in Poland was associated with a tightening of the religious policy applied by the communist authorities. This resulted in increased tension in mutual relations between the state and the Church, and the Office for Religious Affairs increasingly extended its control over church life. The year brought new repressions and restrictions on church life. Cardinal Wyszynski's pro memoria contains accounts compiled by the author of almost every day. By virtue of the fact that the Primate was a great authority and head of the Catholic Church in Poland, his notes are an invaluable source for the history of postwar Poland.
